The Man In The Music

William Bachman, reporter

Hang on for a minute...we're trying to find some more stories you might like.

Ian Marshall is the instrumental music teacher here at DaVinci Academy, this being his first year teaching anywhere.

Mr. Marshall started his career when he started playing in junior high he looked at it as a safe haven and thought that if he became a teacher he could show others that safe haven and help those who need it the same way as music helped him. He was born and raised here in Ogden Utah. Falling in love with music was easy for him just as it is with everyone. Rock music, just in general, he also loves jazz, but he considers the large genre of rock to be his favorite.

His hobbies include playing golf, and music on the drums, guitar, and ukulele he also enjoys video games. When asked about golf he says “I just like the challenge”. His life goals ” My main life goals are to set up a family raise kids and keep teaching”. His dream car is the Porsche 911, as he puts “a beautiful sports car.”

He didn’t play sports in school but marshal says “I didn’t but I wish I did” particularly football as stated previously he currently plays golf. His favorite instrument is the marimba the marimba is “a percussion instrument and is the most beautiful instrument”.

Mr. Marshal has his mind set to teach forever, but if he hadn’t become a teacher he said “I probably would’ve done something with computers.”

Marshal is a great teacher and hopes to teach for a long time and intends to do so.

Unfortunately my schedule this year has not allowed me to take any music classes where I could be a student in Mr. Marshall’s class, but I have heard nothing but good things about him. I know many students in some form of band, and they love working with such a wonderful teacher. Hopefully next year I will be able to fit a music class into my schedule 🙂

Mr. Marshall is one of my favorite teachers at Da Vinci, he’s super fun and really cares about his classes. He also was taught by my previous band teacher when he was in jr high so I don’t have to miss my old teacher as much! I look forward to spending this year and next year in his band class.

Mr. Marshall is a great teacher! I am in his first period guitar class and I enjoy it very much. I really enjoyed the quote about Mr. Marshall’s favorite instrument, the marimba.

This is a good article, it does a great job of telling us more about Mr. Marshall. I don’t know a lot about him because this is his first year teaching at DaVinci, and I don’t have him for any classes. Mr. Marshall seems like a great teacher though, and I liked this article because it tells us more about him and why he became a teacher.
